CRA – Making Secure File Transfers and Electronic Signing Easier

At the beginning of the COVID pandemic, in 2020, Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) implemented the use of e-signatures on tax returns. One of the benefits for clients is not needing to come into the office to sign their forms.

The demand for convenient and secure electronic signing and transfer of files is expected to continue to increase, particularly for tax and payroll services offered through Canwest Accounting. Therefore, Canwest Accounting has been analyzing various new file transfer and electronic signature systems that would cater to the needs and requirements of its clientele.  We have now selected a provider that will allow us to receive your documents, and you will receive your returns through a secure portal that is securely encrypted on multiple levels. Additionally, the digital signature feature will be managed by Docusign, which has been used by many professionals, including realtors, for many years.

“We were looking for a system that is both highly secure and easy and convenient for our clients to use; we’ve found that with iFirm’s systems,” said Sharlane Bailey, Owner of Canwest Accounting. “Everything is kept on a secure server, and clients will have easy access to past documents through the cloud-based portal. As a result, some of our processes will change once we adopt this new technology. We will be contacting our clients via email to invite you to set up a username and password for the portal. For those who do not want to use the new system, we can continue to print out a paper copy of your tax return, and you can sign it at the office.”

Call or email us if you have any questions or to have the exceptional team at Canwest Accounting save you time and money by doing your bookkeeping, tax planning for your business, payroll, and tax filings. Our offices in Victoria and Langford are still closed to the public to keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, but we have a pickup and drop off service that is very convenient.
